A richly illustrated homage to the world`s greatest rock guitar player.
Try to imagine a world with no guitars. Neither blues, nor flamenco or rock. The guitar has always been a protagonist of extraordinary pages of jazz history, it was the queen of folk and blues, and in its electric embodiment, it was the basic stone of rock`n`roll. We want to celebrate the electric guitar myth and legend, thah exstraordinary instrument that turned into a key to open the doors of sensation, creativity and of life itself. Lots of figures have contributed to this history: legendary musicians as Chuck berry, B.B. King, Frank Zappa, Jimmy Page, Syd Barret, David Gilmour, George Harrison, Brian May, Eric Clapton, Martin Barre, Carlos Santana, Mark Knopfler, Ben Harper e above all Jimi Hendrix. This volume is devoted to guitars and to the rockstars who have made use of them. A handsomely illustrated tribute to the instruments that have earned these exemplary guitarists their reputations as some of the greatest musicians of all time, this volume will strike a chord with music enthusiast of all ages.

An original and natural way to trace the history of rock through 500 albums that have left their mark on the individual and collective memory, from the 1950s until today. This sort of “discotheque on paper” – an international bestseller – is the result of the choices of expert contributors and members of the authoritative Rolling Stone magazine, in which each album is associated with its historic cover and discussed in an in-depth profile of the artists and the music they created. This is a journey not to be missed through rock and roll, soul, rock, punk, reggae, and new wave, right up until the furthest frontiers of electronic music.

An illustrated tribute to the most influential musicians in rock history.
From the origins of rock in the 1950s to the music of contemporary bands such as Coldplay and Green Day, this spectacular celebration of rock ’n’ roll traces the history and seminal moments of one of the most controversial, but also one of the most enduring, musical genres. From the Beat movement to punk, and from hippy to grunge, rock has experimented and encouraged a myriad of cultural and social changes. It has described in music the nature of the world and the desires of the young, helping new generations to dream and live, and at the same time producing a culture and an artistic style that has left a permanent mark on society. Legends of Rock recounts the history, the cities, the instruments, fashions and personalities that made this music great. This encyclopedic work is arranged chronologically and casts a new light on the personalities of the pioneers of rock: Elvis Presley, the popular ballad-singer Bob Dylan and some of the best-loved classics including the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Who. It features punk singers Patti Smith and the Sex Pistols, grunge bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam and other icons including Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Bruce Springsteen and many others. The book is packed with photographic portraits and live images of many musicians in concert and also shows a multitude of famous album covers, which accompany the exciting story of rock. With its inestimable collection of photographs, a wealth of intriguing anecdotes and hitherto unpublished facts about rock stars, this work is an essential addition to the bookshelf of young-at-heart fifty-year-olds and teenagers alike.

568 PAGES OF THE EXCITING COVERS OF A MAGAZINE THAT IS THE WORLD’S POP MUSIC ICON
1967 was ending and the world was on the brink of change: wars were being fought, revolutions were starting, mega concerts were creating a new type of culture and, above all that cacophony, radios screamed out the music of a new generation. Nestling slightly in the shadows, Rolling Stone was born, and quickly became the thermometer of popular culture’s temperature. For four decades, Rolling Stone has described the events of our times, constantly being at the cutting edge of pop music. For the first time ever, all the covers of Rolling Stone have been collected in one place, from the very first issue to the legendary 1000th edition, released in 2006. Nothing and no one has escaped: all the protagonists of the changing world are here, an exciting adventure that is still in progress.
